Central Europe Foundation "Mitteleuropa-Stiftung"

Each year, the Central Europe Foundation provides funds to support students in the Graduate programs of the Universität St. Gallen (HSG). In keeping with the foundation’s mission, these need-based scholarships are awarded to students from Central and Eastern Europe (and in the future from Latin America) who are studying in areas related to economic cooperation in Europe and elsewhere.

The main areas of study supported by the Central Europe Foundation at HSG in the past have included: Economics, Public Administration, and International Relations. Students pursuing degrees in other areas (such as business administration, finance, or accounting) could also be eligible for scholarships if their course of studies and engagement includes a focus on issues of economic cooperation.
The foundation also gives a yearly prize to a person or organization in recognition of outstanding achievement in fostering economic cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe (for a list of prize recipients please go to http://centraleuropefoundation.org/dr-elemer-hantos-prize).
As a supplement to financing the students’ education at HSG, the Central Europe Foundation can provide yearly travel passes (SBB General-Abo’s) to selected student from Central or Eastern Europe, (or Latin America) if it can be determined that without these passes, the students wouldn’t be able to take full advantage of living in Switzerland. It is expected that the students receiving the travel passes provide a brief description of how the passes were used, with no intended limit on how the passes are used (i.e. they can be used for cultural or work-related activities or for leisure activities such as taking short trips to get to know the various parts of Switzerland).
